Emergencies and disasters strike quickly and often without warning. They can disrupt our lives, force us to leave our homes, or even confine us for days without essential services like electricity, phones, or water.
How ready are you and your family?
One of the first things you can do is sign up for our ReadyMontco notification system, powered by Everbridge. This program delivers alerts about severe weather and other important events in Montgomery County to the devices of your choice. Whether you prefer emails, text messages, push notifications, or even a good ol' fashioned phone call - you decide the option that works for you!
There is no direct cost to sign up for ReadyMontco. However, there may be charges for certain features (like receiving text messages) so it's best to double check with your service providers.
ReadyMontco replaced the ReadyNotifyPA system in June 2015 as the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety, along with its emergency management partners in the Southeastern Pennsylvania region, switched providers of our notification system.
After you've signed up for ReadyMontco, be sure to download the Everbridge mobile application for iPhone or Android. If you select mobile app push notifications as one of the contact pathways within your ReadyMontco account, it will provide us one more way to reach you in case of emergency. This may be particularly important if voice call and text message networks are running slow during periods of high demand, such as during and after a disaster.
In addition, the app allows you to receive notifications from other authorized public safety agencies who subscribe to Everbridge while you are in their coverage area. Whether you are on vacation, traveling for work, or visiting family and friends, you will be able to receive geo-fenced emergency alerts while you are away without having to subscribe to each individual jurisdiction's notification system.
